Mickey's Playtown Adventure: A Day of Discovery - a fun game to play with your child
The game was cancelled before it could be released, despite being finished.
Was going to be released for SNES
This was the first game that my daughter, who is five years old, completed from start to finish and in one sitting. I did start her out with Super Mario world but she found that a bit hard, so I started her on this instead, she loved the pacing of the game and it fit her playstyle much more. The game stars Mickey Mouse as he goes on an adventure in Toontown to solve puzzles and riddles involving letters, numbers, shapes, and objects. This game also has some light platforming. It can get challenging at places and your child may need you to help them in some sections. Also you may need to read out the small descriptions on what to do for your child. At the start of the game you can choose your age (3-8) so the game scales the difficulty depending on the age of the child. You can also interact with lots of the buildings and backgrounds and these are done very well.
Overall this is a very colorful game and has a few well known disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Daisy, Scrooge, Pete. It doesn't take too long to finish and has memorable music throughout. There are some areas where the objective is not that clear and some of the platforming can be challenging however overall it suits thje intended clientele.
I am surprised that they didn't end up releasing this game as it was definitely one of the better games made for children.
I recommend anyone with children from the ages of 3-7 to play this game, especially as an introduction to video games.
I rate Mickey's Playtown Adventure a 3/5 Stars
